With 8 more cases reported on Sunday [2 Sep 2007], the number of 

chikungunya cases in Mugpal Kelasahi village in Jaipur district has reached 91.



Over 50 affected persons are still undergoing treatment in various 

hospitals. However, no deaths have been reported so far.



On Saturday [1 Sep 2007], a team of doctors rushed to the village to 

collect the blood sample of those affected. The samples have been 

sent to Indian Council of Medical Research, Bhubaneswar for examination.

[If this outbreak is confirmed as due to chikungunya virus infection, 

then the outbreak of this viral disease continues in India. There is 

no indication of mosquito vector control measures being taken in this 

test results become available.
